Masterclass Inner Practice:Peaceful Warriors Begin with Pranayama essentials: how to prop and support, and move the breath into the closed areas. Then practice several classical forms of Pranayama. Finish with a short meditation and a restorative shavasana.

When chronically short, the Iliopsoas muscle can create pain and weakness in hips, knees, groins and in the low back, When weak or imbalanced this powerful pair of muscles can create pelvic instabilty, deep fatigue and anxiety. Finding just the right mix of strength and flexibility, release and stability creates the conditions for healthy posture, depth in Asana, and joyous movement.The day will begin with a Psoas
-focused SmartFLOW 2-hour practice, followed by an afternoon of functional-anatomy informed release work, highlighting the Iliopsoas system, its impact on the pelvis, low back and diaphragm. 2 short “prescriptions will be taught and practiced: one with balanced increasing ROM (range of motion), and the other a quiet, deep intra-pelvic stability practice.Make no mistake: we All need both of them! -SUNDAY Back Care for Neck, Upper Back and Shoulder Girdle Essential for Teachers, and open to all Yogis.Learn to assess, strengthen, release and stabilize this delicate and often abused area. This work will correct poor posture and address many upper back, shoulder and neck issues. Learn to assess, prop and modify, as well as which poses are healthful and which are contra-indicated and when, and how to build a sequence for various upper body instabilities. In the morning, we’ll start with a steady, strong practice with emphasis on this area. The afternoon begins with a short functional anatomy lesson followed by labs looking at common dysfunctional patterns and short “prescriptions” for addressing each one. We’ll exmaine the intimate relationship between the upper spine, head placement and the shoulder girdle, and find just the right balance of flexibility and stability so you and your students will be flowing and inverting for many years to come.
